Embossing
To raise a design or letters on card stock or heavy paper using an un-inked block or die to apply extreme pressure and heat. This results in a raised surface that bulges upward for decorative purposes that emphasizes parts of a design with texture and depth. This can be most effective on softcover books and jackets, though is also possible on hardcover books (but will not be as raised due to the paper being wrapped over board).
